Shop Till Ya Don't Drop
Online shopping has rapidly grown with the increase in technology. Millennials are driving this spike and have made a critical impact on the retail industry. The 18-34 age group is now making up 54% of its purchases online. As digital natives, we have easy access to various channels, which provides convenience. One of my favorite things to do is lay in bed and scroll through my favorite stores websites and add whatever I want to my cart, which sadly I eventually have to narrow down. It's nice to save my self a trip from driving out to a mall or store and spending hours searching and trying on. Shopping is exhausting cue the phrase "shop till ya drop." I enjoy having the freedom to shop when I feel the need to and see the clothing on models and reviews from other customers rather than trying on myself. The websites are organized, visually pleasing and usually have all sizes and clothing options unlike the physical stores. I definitely spend to much time scanning through retail websites and a lot of times I don't end up ordering what I have found. But, when my shopping does workout it's great and I get super excited to receive my package. Shipping is another huge factor. I love shopping on Amazon, Revolve, Shopbop and Zappos because of their free two-day shipping. It's amazing and I can return whate
ver I don't want for free. These websites are my go to's and I use them a lot for last minute events such as date nights, weddings, gamedays, etc. Amazon is really amazing because of the vast products they provide. If I need makeup, kitchen appliances, school books, vitamins and so forth it's all there for me to choose from. There's no way I'd find what I'm looking for in Athens, GA! UPS simply drops off my package at my door and bam I have an outfit or whatever I've been needing. When I begin to invest my own money, I definitely will be putting some into UPS and Amazon. They've got it figured out that consumers want their items the fastest and easiest way. The retail industry needs to adapt and constantly be updating their social media sites. The way consumers discover, shop and buy is changing. Marketers must be able to capture shoppers attention and drive awareness to their platforms to increase e-commerce transactions.
