Dawgs Takeover
The Dawgs cross the Mason-Dixon Line for the first time since 1965 and UGA fans were sure to follow. I was one of the 40,000 fans who made the trip and attended the legendary game in South Bend vs Notre Dame. There was so much hype leading up to, during and after the trip. Chicago was full of UGA fans who also took over the Cubs stadium Friday and Bears stadium Sunday. As we strolled through the city, it was non-stop chatter and shouting with passing fellow UGA fans. There was such a strong sense of togetherness with all of us no matter what age congregating there to cheer on the Dawgs. Social media posts were flooded with UGA fans documenting their travels and we met up with many friends that way. UGA took over bars, restaurants, tailgates and stadiums. We may have been a bit obnoxious, but hey we got the job done and had fun while doing so. The marketing of the sporting event brought together so many people and social media platforms shared the experiences. There were many trending hashtags such as #UGAvsND #notreLAME #dawgstakeover #20-19 #redout and so on. I was one to be broadcasting the events all weekend via Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook. I was constantly checking other people's posts as well and we all built up much hype for the game and really did seem to take over the Notre Dame Stadium. It was an awesome experience to be apart of and made me more proud to be a Dawg (cheesy I know).

Home game or away game?
Sports marketing is a hugeeee industry. The promotion of the sport event itself to the promotion of products and brand names generates much revenue and attention. Within stadiums, there's thousands of screen displays, food products from concessions, advertisements, etc. The event also promotes products via commercials and public statements. There's such a large audience base watching and attending, so it's an amazing outlet for promotion and awareness. That's why Super Bowl commercials are the most expensive slots to get! It's a great opportunity for marketers and they must be ready to take the necessary actions to get their message across multiple platforms and to as many people as possible. Fans also are able to engage and share their experiences, which generates lots of attention. People don't realize how much marketing effort goes into all of the events and absorb so much subconsciously. Technology truly allows for never ending ads and marketers must adapt to the multiple platforms and needs of their audience.

This game was really epic! This was the first game that I have gone to in my life where I had to fly out to another city and I can say that it was really impactful and telling how passionate Georgia Football fans are. so many people were actually taking pictures and recording their experiences at the game and it was all of this that was extremely inspiring. Social made such an important role in the outcome and reach of the game that I was even inspired to produce content on social media.
