Commercial #2
My second favorite commercial that I watched was called The Perfect Bowl by Leo Burnett London for Kellogg's. I would never imagine I would be so intrigued by a Kellogg's commercial. It's kind of ironic that my favorite commercial also involved cereal, which was More Babies, Please! for Cheerios. Anyways, this Kellogg's film was great because it showed several videos of different consumers eating their cornflakes the way they liked them. Toppings such as pine nuts, honey, fruits, warm milk or cold milk were all displayed. I was interested to see the different ways cornflakes could be transformed because I never really thought to add to my cereal and it made me want too!
The technical production of the film involved streaming in multiple videos of interviews of consumers sharing their preferences. The film had good flow and certainty kept me interested. The quality seemed to be perfect and I believe that they successfully got the message to the audience. The commercial ended with the slogan "What's your perfect bowl?" This question made me feel as if I need to try it out and discover my personal perfect bowl. The hashtags they created #myperfectbowl led me to researching it on Instagram to see more different ideas. This was a great marketing move.
My main critique for this film was that it was all very similar technical production. The videos were the same and that was all that it seemed to entail. Maybe some cool pop ups or faster pace videos would've made the film more detailed and interesting. All of the settings seemed to be in homes, which I understand, but I feel that different backdrops or actives could've made the film more lively. Altogether, I really did love this commercial and it did make me as a consumer want to make #myperfectbowl of Kellogg's cornflakes. Personalization and customization are great marketing and advertising tools for today's consumers.
